Ten Principles
A working summary of what Michael believes is worth passing on.
No. 01
You don't have to believe you can do something perfectly before you begin. Most of the time, you only have to believe enough to take the first step. The rest has a way of revealing itself as you keep showing up.
No. 02
I've never seen belief accomplish much by itself. But I've also never seen anyone stay disciplined very long if they didn't believe their work mattered.
No. 03
I've met people in their nineties who were full of life, and I've met people in their forties who had already quit living. Age isn't just measured by birthdays. It's measured by whether you still have something you're looking forward to.
No. 04
Every success I've ever had has someone else's fingerprints on it. Parents, teachers, mentors, friends, coworkers, and family all helped me become the person I am. None of us gets there by ourselves.
No. 05
Most extraordinary lives aren't built on extraordinary talent. They're built by ordinary people who keep doing ordinary things with extraordinary consistency.
No. 06
Long before we convince anyone else, we've convinced ourselves. If we keep telling ourselves we can't, we probably won't. Sometimes changing your life begins by changing the story you're telling yourself.

The big moments simply reveal what the little moments have been building for years. Integrity isn't something you turn on when life gets difficult. It's something you practice every day.

Every conversation is an opportunity. Sometimes people need advice. More often, they simply need encouragement. I hope the people who cross my path leave believing a little more in themselves than when we first met.

Awards fade. Titles come and go. What lasts is knowing that because you were there, someone else believed they could do something they never thought possible.
No. 10
Use your gifts. Tell your stories. Share what you've learned. Love your family. Encourage people. When my time comes, I don't want to leave wondering what might have been. I want to know I gave this life everything I had.
